I ♥♥♥ a little pampering. And spending a day at the spa on a weekend just does it for me. It’s one of those spoil myself luxuries I like to indulge in, but it can come with a heavy price tag. On average a visit to the spa for a massage, mani, pedi, waxing and a facial treatment will cost anything between 5,000-25,000. However with a little planning and investing in your own equipment and oils, you can recreate this experience at home. It’s quite simple and cost effective in the long run. The bigger advantage is that it will leave you pampered indeed.

SET THE SCENE
Make sure you have plenty of fresh fluffy towels and a nice comfy bath robe. Have a few lit scented candles to create a spa-like atmosphere in different sections of your home. If you can play soothing music in the background even better
SOAK YOURSELF
Do this in a warm bath for a few minutes to soften your skin and help you relax. You might want to add the aromatherapy oils to your water to enhance the experience.
SCRUB AWAY YOUR CARES
Get out of the bath and give your skin a good scrub to remove the dead skin cells and improve circulation. Apply your body scrub in circular motion beginning with your feet and working towards your chest. (Use different scrubs for face and body). The scrub action should give you a good skin tone. Take a shower and pat yourself dry with your fluffy towels.
MOISTURISE
Use a natural oil blend on your skin such as jojoba oil, coconut oil and about 10 drops of geranium and sandalwood. Massage it into your skin and you’ll feel amazing.
TIME FOR YOUR SKIN CARE ROUTINE
Cleanse, tone, scrub, mask and moisturize your face in that order. You can steam your face in the process and extract the blackheads if you know how to. Use your usual skin care products or go for natural food products.
NAIL IT!
Finish off with a mani/pedi to get your nails looking fantastic. Start off by trimming your nails to the same length and file them to the shape you want. Work from outside the edge of the nails inwards. Soak your hands and feet in warm water after applying lanolin cream . Pat your hands dry and clean under your nails with a soft brush. Gently push back the cuticles with an orange stick and chop of the extra cuticle. Apply some oil to the nail. Buff away you nails to smooth the ridges and bring out a natural shine. Finish by applying clear polish. If you’re going for colour start with a base coat and end with the top coat.
Enjoy your spa day.
